I really like the idea behind CutScript, and I think it has a lot of potential, especially because it works closely with Final Cut, however, in its current state, I still find myself doing quite a lot of manual work compared with my existing workflow using another AI editing tool which usually can get to a usable talking-head rough cut with much less manual intervention.
The biggest issue for me is the AI Rough Cut. Having the process split into two review stages already feels a little too long for my workflow.
In the first stage, I have to approve or reject the lines the AI selects. It seems to choose what it thinks are the best takes, but its choices are not always the ones I would actually use. Because of that, I still have to manually go through the transcript and tick or untick many of the AI's decisions.
Sometimes one transcript line contains more than one sentence, and I may want to keep one sentence but remove another. At that stage, I can only approve or reject the entire line. If I approve it, I then have to go through another editing pass later to remove the part I did not want.
Being able to split transcript lines, or select individual sentences during the first review stage, would make the process much faster.
Another important part of my workflow is filler-word removal. I still noticed quite a few "ums" and "uhs" remaining in the edit. Ideally, I would love CutScript to detect and remove these more reliably, along with obvious false starts, repeated phrases, long pauses, and abandoned takes.
I wish it has better stability too, as I already experienced a crash during my first time using it.
Overall, I think CutScript is very promising, and I am still glad I bought it. I would definitely revisit it as these areas improve because the overall concept fits Final Cut users very well.
